Urmet make complex access-control systems. We made them easy to understand, and genuinely watchable, filmed in the real-world settings their products live in.
Urmet UK, a leading manufacturer of door-entry and access-control systems, focused on enhancing security in residential and commercial developments.
Urmet wanted to show their systems working in the real world, not in a studio, which meant filming on live development sites at Chelmer Waterside in Chelmsford, around ongoing construction. Technical product, demanding environment. We planned for both.
The challenge.
Access-control systems are intricate and technical. The brief was to show them in action in real residential developments, a 10-minute flagship for YouTube and the website, plus smaller cuts tailored to each social channel.
Filming happened on live construction sites: changing conditions, noise, access constraints and real risk to the kit. It demanded careful scripting, scheduling around quiet windows, and a crew that could adapt on the day.
- Documentary-style on-site filmingMultiple cameras, gimbals, monopods and drones to capture everything from product close-ups to sweeping aerials of the developments.
- Clean audio in a noisy placeLapel mics and scheduling around quiet windows to get broadcast-quality sound on a building site.
- Technical, but not dryCareful scripting and storyboarding to explain the technology clearly without drowning the viewer in jargon.
- One shoot, a whole libraryA 10-minute flagship film for YouTube and the website, then dozens of platform-specific social cuts from the same footage.
A library that keeps working.
A deep library of marketing videos built from the on-site shoots, a flagship film plus dozens of social-ready cuts.
The content earned around 80% average watch-through, a clear sign it was landing with the right professional audience.
